As a final hurrah to ending the school semester, the BA Behavioral Science Interns of the University of the Cordilleras brought warmth, fun, and compassion to the children of the DSWD–Reception and Study Center for Children on August 2, 2025 at Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet. In which they were met with something far more valuable than anything they could give: the warmth of smiles and the sound of shared laughter.
A week prior to the event, on July 27, 2025, the BA Behavioral Science interns delivered freshly baked goods from Valley Bread and medicines from the City Health Services Office of Baguio City as a gesture of passion and care.
The program on the 2nd of August led by the BA Behavioral Science Interns began with a lively hosting and an opening prayer, followed by an interactive storytelling session brought to life through roleplay. This was then followed by fun parlor games like Hep Hep Hooray and Stop Dance, and a calm coloring and play session.

Wrapping up the day’s program, the children enjoyed a Jollibee meal and received the donations of the interns, which includes: clothes, school bags, school supplies, rain boots, rain coats, umbrellas, toys, bed covers, milk bottles, and other necessities.
This community outreach was more than a service, it was a heartfelt reminder that through stories, laughter, and shared moments, this community service was more than an outreach, it was a heartfelt reminder that even small acts of kindness can leave lasting joy.
“The visit to the DSWD-RSCC was a sobering reminder of reality as we interacted with children, who at such a young age, had already caught a glimpse of the world’s troubles. Faces who were eagerly looking at the Behavioral students for a hint of attention and validation, not out of vanity or pride, but from a sincere longing to be seen, heard, and acknowledged, as if even a small smile or nod from the students could brighten their entire day.” was Gherlyne Mae Tictica’s reflection on her time at the DSWD RSCC. Likewise, Mr. Shannon Avery Laban recounts,
“Life is all about the small things. A smile, a warm meal, a helping hand. We had the privilege of sharing these little acts of love at DSWD Wangal. As graduating Behavioral Science students, we’re grateful for the chance to give back and be reminded that kindness, no matter how small, can make the biggest difference in the lives of those who need it the most.”
This outreach served as a reminder that kindness, no matter how small, can create a lasting impact. In moments of connection, shared joy, and mutual generosity, the true spirit of community shines the brightest.
