UC Students View Local and Cultural Art Works at BenCab Museum B

By: Ms. Danielle Hannah R. Malitao, Language & Literature Department

On November 19 and 20, 2024, 140 first-year students from the University of the Cordilleras toured the BenCab museum for their Art Appreciation class. The BenCab Museum, established by the national artist Benedicto Cabrera, features both traditional and contemporary art pieces by himself and many other Philippine artists. The activity was held to fulfill the students’ experiential learning – critiquing and exploring art, creativity, and the local culture.

The visit was a time of deep contemplation and appreciation for Philippine and Cordilleran culture and arts. The students spent an hour of silent observation and analyzation – finding and connecting with what they consider to be the most intriguing and relatable pieces amongst the sizable exhibits of the venue. Through this activity, the students could exercise immersive learning and support for our local artists.
